About Mona

Educator. Literacy specialist. Champion for every child's possibility.

Mona's Story

Three Decades of Watching Literacy Change Lives.

For more than 30 years, Mona has stood beside students at the exact moment reading or writing felt impossible — and walked with them to the moment it became their strength. As a National Board Certified literacy specialist, she has taught, coached, and consulted across grades 3–12, serving students, families, and schools.

Monarch Literacy is the culmination of that work: a practice built on the belief that literacy is not just a school skill — it is the foundation of confidence, communication, critical thinking, and opportunity. Like the monarch butterfly, every learner carries transformation within them. Mona's work is helping it take flight.

Mission

To help students become confident readers, writers, thinkers, and communicators through personalized literacy coaching — strengthening literacy and expanding possibilities for every learner.

Vision

A world where no child's future is limited by literacy — where every student, from the reluctant reader to the driven student-athlete, has the skills and self-belief to pursue any possibility they can imagine.

What Guides the Work

Values

Whole Child First

Every student is more than a score. We teach to strengths, honor identities, and build learners who believe in themselves.

Personalization Over Programs

No two learners are alike, so no two plans are alike. Instruction is built from data and shaped by relationship.

Excellence Without Compromise

Research-backed methods, professional rigor, and high expectations — delivered with warmth.

Transformation, Not Transaction

The goal isn't finished homework. It's a changed trajectory: skills, confidence, and possibility that last.

Teaching Philosophy

"Meet the learner where they are. Teach to who they're becoming."

Mona's approach is strength-based and whole-child: instruction begins with what a student can do, honors who they are, and builds systematically toward who they want to become. Sessions blend the science of reading and writing with genuine relationship — because skills grow fastest when students feel seen, safe, and challenged in equal measure.
